Man docked over fraud

The Police in Ore, Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo state have arraigned a man, Felix Gaga, for fraudulently converting the sum of N150,000, belonging to a woman.

Gaga, 35, was brought before the Magistrates’ Court sitting in Odigbo, on a one-count charge of fraud

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Muyideen Yekini, said Gaga committed the offence in February, 2019 at Gbogi Garage, Ore in the Ore Magisterial District.

He said Gaga converted the sum of N150,000, property of one Mrs. Medinat Azeez, to his own use.

Yekini said, the offence contravened section 383 and 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Volume 1, Law of the Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses in court.

Counsel to the accused, Mr. Rufus Omotayo, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term, assuring that he would not jump bail.

The presiding magistrate, Mr. T.J Ajayi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ajayi said the sureties must be a responsible and show evidence of tax payment for the current year.

He adjourned the case till June 19, 2019.
