The police have arraigned two men before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for unlawful possession of firearms.
The accused persons allegedly committed the offence on October 14, 2022 at ltanla junction in Ondo.
Ibitayo Korede, 30, a furniture and Adejoh Paul, 26, an electrician, are standing trial on two counts of misdemeanor to wit unlawful possession of firearms.
The police prosecutor, Supol Martin’s Olowofeso, told the court that the accused persons did conspired together to commit misdemeanor wit unlawful possession of firearm.
He said the defendants did have in their possession one locally made short double barrel gun which they can not give a satisfactory account of how they came about it .
The duo pleaded not guilty to the offends which run contrary to and punishable under Sections 517, 88 of the Criminal Code Cap, 37. Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Counsel to the defendants, Emeka Daniel Agbala prayed the court to admit his clients to bail in most liberal terms.
Magistrate R.A Olumilua, in her ruling, granted the defendants bail in the sum of M200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till November 9, 2022 for hearing.
