A middle aged man, Bayo Abraham, has been arraigned at an Akure  Magistrate court sitting at Oke-eda, for allegedly over-speeding, and unlawful possession of Solar battery.

According to the charge sheet, the defendant committed the offence on October 31, 2019 at about 2 o,clock at Oba-Ile.

Abraham was alleged to have exceeded the speed  limit expected on highway and also refused to stop at the  checkpoint.

The charges also read that Abraham and others at large were unlawfully in possession of seven Zolar batteries.

The offence was said to have contradicted and punishable under section 249 sub-section B, Cap 37 volume 1 of Criminal Code Law of Ondo State Nigeria 2006.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him.

The prosecuting officer, Augustine Omhenimhen told the court that he has three witnesses  in the matter.

He prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him bring the exhibits to court and to study the case file and gather more evidence before next date.

Lawyer  to the defendant Mr O. F Saliu did not oppose the prosecutor’s prayer but prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in most liberal term on the ground that his offence is bailable.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.R.Yakubu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of #100,000 with one surety .

She stated that the surety must be residence  within the court magisterial district while he must also attach an affidavit of means with two passport photograph and show evidence of tax payment for the current year.

She adjourned the case till November 18, 2019 for hearing.
