A 28-year-old man ,Semilore Olatuja has been dragged before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo town, for breaking into the house of one Chinadu Obiyo with intent to commit felony.

 The police brought Olatuja before the court on Wednesday for unlawfully stealing one Tecno power 67valued N44,000:00, one Tecno ponviour 2 valued N44,000:00, Kamisase standing fan valued N12,000:00, one woman bag valued N5,000:00, one Diamond ATM card, one First Bank ATM card and the sum of N500,000:00, total valued N655,000:00.

The defendant who is facing two – count charge bothering on  breaking into the house and stealing, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The defendant was said to have committed the offence June 30, 2019 at about 12:30pm at Adesuper road Ondo, contrary to section 383(2)(a) and punishable under section 411(2) and 390(9) of the Criminal code cap 37 volume 1 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The charge sheet read in part,”That you, Semilore Olatuja on June 30,2019 at about 12:30pm at Adesuper road, Ondo in the ondo magisterial district did break into the house of one chinadu Obiyo with intent to commit felony therein and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 411(2) of the Criminal code cap 37 volume 1 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

“That you Semilore Olatuja on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district did steal one Tecno power 67 valued N44,000:00, one Tecno ponviour 2 valued N44,000:00, Kamisase standing fan valued N12,500, one woman bag valued N5,000:00, one Diamond ATM card, One first Bank ATM card, and the sum of N 500,000:00 total valued N655,000 property of one chinadu obiyo and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383(2)(a) and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal code cap 37 volume 1 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The police prosecutor, Charles Olagbayi who told the court that he would be calling three witnesses to testify in the case, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.

Lawyer for the defendants, Olugbenga Akindejoye applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Odenusi Fadeyi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two surety in like sum.

She said the sureties must be residents within the jurisdiction, while they must show evidence of payment of tax for the current year, attached affidavit of means, passport of the defendant and sureties must be attached also.

She adjourned the case till August 21, 2019 for trial.
