A 30-year-old man, Tosin Kilanko, has appeared before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing his friend, Rotimi Adepoju, with a broken bottle.
The police had arraigned the defendant, whose address is unknown , on charge of assault.
During the hearing, the prosecuting counsel, Insp. Abdulateef Suleiman, told the court that the defendants committed the offence at about 8:30p.m in June 5 at Tipper Garage Akure.
Abdulateef alleged that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Adepoju by beating him up and stabbing him with a broken bottle all over his body which made him sustain deep cuts on his neck.
The prosecution alleged that the assault was as a result of an argument that ensued between the duo.
“In the heat of the argument, the defendant broke a bottle and stabbed the Adepoju on the head
“The victim is still in the hospital receiving treatment,” he said.
Abdulateef said that the offence contraven Section 252 and 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State 2016.
Counsel to the defendant, O.O. Adedire prayed the court to grant the defendant bail on a liberal term as the offence again him is bailable.
The Magistrate, N.T. Aladejana, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case to July 26, 2022, for hearing.
