A 50-year-old man, Makinwa Israel has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate Court in Odigbo, for fraud and stealing.
The defendant was before the court on a two-count charge for fraudulently converting the sum of N 1.710 million, to his own use, property of one Egware Saturday.
Israel, was also said to have stolen four bags of cocoa beans valued at about N250, 000, property of one Egware Saturday
The police prosecutor, Mr Usifo James said the defendant committed the offence on December 2021 and January 2022 at Ore, in Ore magisterial district
The offences contravened and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
James therefore sought an adjournment to study the case file.
The defence counsel, Mr Rufus Omotayo applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.
The presiding magistrate, Mr Ogunfuyi D. O granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two credible surety in the like sum.
He ordered that the defendant to be remanded to Okitipupa Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail
Ogunfuyi thereafter adjourned the case till August 10, 2022, for trial.
