A 31-year-old man, Sunday Adegalu has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo for stealing computer items and ceiling fans.
The police brought Adegalu before the court on a three-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The police Prosecutor, Mr Akao Moremi said the convict committed the offence on April 27, 2023, at about 7 am at Our Saviour’s primary school, Ondo.
The charge read in part,” That you, Sunday Adegalu on April 27, 2023, at about 7am at Our Saviour primary school, Ondo in the Ondo Magisterial District, unlawfully conspired to commit felony to with school breaking and stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 law of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
“That you did break into Our Saviour primary school, Esso, Ondo through window and ceiling with the intent to steal therein and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 413(1) and punishable under section 413(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 law of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
“That you stole 13 Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS) and three ceiling fans valued at N400,000 property of Our Saviours primary school, Esso thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383(1)(2) and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1, law of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Akao Moremi prayed to the court to sentence the convict according to his plea.
Counsel to the defendant, Israel Ikuemoisan prayed the court to temper justice with mercy on behalf of his client, saying he would not do it again.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Mosunmola Ikujuni, found the defendant guilty and convicted him accordingly.
Ikujuni, sentenced him to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.
The court, however directed that the sentence run concurrently.
