Man jailed over N30,000 theft

A 25-year-old man, Sheriff Lawal, has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for stealing N30,000.

The convict committed the offence on April 24, 2019 at 5.30 a.m. at Rasco area, Osogbo.

The prosecutor, ASP: Abiodun Fagboyinbo, told the court that the convict stole N30,000 belonging to one Mr Michael Ademilua without his consent.

The offence contravened section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 VCol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The convict pleaded guilty to the charge  leveled  against him.

Following the guilty plea,  the defence counsel,  Mrs Shade Adekanmi, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing her client.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Rofiat Olayemi, however, sentenced the convict to 12 months in prison without an option of fine, due to the magnitude of the offence.
