Man lands in court for allegedly stealing turkeys

A 36-year old man, Adegoke Adebola, has appeared before an Akure Magistrates’ Court over an alleged turkey theft.

The prosecution, led by Inspector Augustine Samson Daodu, informed the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on October 18, 2024, around 9:30 p.m. at No. 8 Sholagbade Street, Oshinle, Akure.

Adebola is accused of stealing four live turkeys, valued at N320,000, belonging to one Alasa Oluwawemimo.

The alleged offence is said to contravene Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In his application for bail, defence counsel Tiwo Israel requested lenient terms, assuring the court that the defendant would provide credible sureties.

Magistrate Olusola Olujobi granted bail in the sum of N500,000, with one surety in like amount, and adjourned the case until November 25, 2024, for further hearing.
