Man remanded for stealing varsity irons

A man, Ogunleye Abiodun, has been remanded in a correctional facility by an Iwaro-Oka Chief Magistrates’ Court over allegations of stealing iron materials belonging to the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), in Ondo State.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate B.A. Ikusika on a one-count charge bordering on stealing.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Boboye, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence within the Akungba-Akoko Magisterial District, at the premises of Adekunle Ajasin University.
According to Boboye, the accused allegedly stole six pieces of cut-to-size 15mm irons, some curved irons meant for construction, as well as an iron designated for a gate.
The prosecution further noted that the offence contravenes Section 383 and is punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Ogunleye pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Following the plea, Magistrate Ikusika ordered that the defendant be remanded and adjourned the matter till June 11, 2025, for further hearing.
