An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Oke-Eda, has ordered the remand of a 24-year-old man, Bomboy Solomon Stephen, in Olokuta prison over alleged armed robbery.
The police dragged the accused person before the court on a two count-charge of felony to wit armed robbery.
The prosecution said Stephen, and others still at large, while armed with mock pistol and other dangerous weapons robbed one Idiojiaku Ebere, of his KIA RIO 2011 model saloon car with number plate Lagos KRD 653 DQ valued at N3.1Million, one Infinix hot note 2 handset valued at N40,000, and wedding ring worth N28,000, total valued at N3,168,000.
Stephen with his accomplices was said to have committed the offence on December 26, 2018 at about 13:20hrs at Oke -Ala community, Housing Estate, Oba-ile in the Akure Magisterial District.
The police prosecutor, lnspector Adebayo Sulaiman said the offence committed contravened Section 402 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
His plea was not taken from the accused person.
Sulaiman, urged the court to remand the accused, Stephen, in Olokuta prison pending the release of the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Lawyer for the accused, Mr A.D Yakubu, did not object the remand application made by the prosecutor.
The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob Manuel, ordered the remand of the accused person in Olokuta prison pending the outcome of legal advice from the DPP’s office.
She adjourned the case till February 12, 2019 for review.
