Man remanded over alleged robbery

A 21-year -old man, Tobi Rufus, has been remanded at Olokuta prison custody by an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Oke-Eda, for robbing two people of their phones and money.
Rufus was said to have committed the offence on April 27, 2019 at about 8:30pm at Obasekola area, Owo in the Ondo state magisterial district.
According to the prosecution, the accused and others at large, while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons robbed one man Aanu Oreoluwa of his infinix hot S3 handset valued at N61,000 and the sum of N60,000.
The accused was also said to have robbed one Oluwaseun Adekanla of his Tecno Camon X handset valued N57,000 and the sum of N55,000.
The alleged offence was said to be contrary to and punishable under sections 6(b) 1,2 (a)&(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision ) Act Cap R11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The plea of the accused person was not taken when the charge was read to him.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Adebayo Sulaiman, urged the court to remand the accused person in prison pending the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution office.
The defence counsel, Mr A. Imoru, did not oppose the remand motion moved by the prosecutor.
The magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered the remand of the defendant at Olokuta prison pending the advice from the DPP’s office.
Bob-Manuel, directed the prosecutor to make both the original and duplicate of the case file available to the court clerk, while she said the court clerk should dispatch the duplicate to the DPP’s office and the original to the office of the Chief Registrar, Ondo state judiciary for safe keeping.
