Man remanded over fraud

A 44 -year-old man, Victor Orochomoni has been arraigned before an Odigbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged N350,000 fraud.

Orochomoni was alleged of committing a count offence of fraud on June 18, 2022 at Ore, Ondo State

The charge sheet reads in part, “That you Orochomoni victor ‘M’, on the 18′” of June, 2022 at Ore in the Ore Magisterial district did wit pretence to process and supply Bamboo trees, fraudulently obtained cash sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (350,000) from one Odunifa Quadri ‘M’ and failed to supply and converted the money to your own use”

The offence contravened Section 383 (1)of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. I Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.

The prosecutor, Inspector Usifo James prayed for an adjournment to enable him study the case file.

The defence counsel, Mr B. D Adedugba did not oppose the prosecutor’s application, but prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in most liberal terms.

In his ruling, Magistrate D. O Ogunfuyi admitted the accused person to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He, however, ordered the remand of the defendant at Okitipupa Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail.

He adjourned the case till August 30, 2022 for trial.
