The suspect who was paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo, was said to have committed the offence between February 25 and 26, 2020.

According to the Police boss, the suspect had a misunderstanding with the deceased, James Yankume, 35, on February 25 and went to attack him the following day.

“The next day, February 26, around 6:00am, the said suspect went to the deceased’s house with cutlass and dane gun.

“He chased the deceased and his wife out of the house and eventually inflicted several machete cuts on his body, beheaded and dumped the head inside the forest.”

He assured that the suspect will soon be charged to court after investigations are completed.

When The Hope spoke with the suspect, he said the deceased attacked him with a cutlass but was fortunate, he was not injured.

“He (deceased) has been after my life for a long time but was not successful. He hit me with a cutlass on my neck but it had no effect and I hit him back on the same spot and his head came off”
