Man,45, docked for assault

A 45-year-old man, Famusi Timilehin, has been arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court, over an alleged assault.

Men of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps brought the defendant before Magistrate T.I. Ayodele, on two counts charge bordering on assault.

According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on October 17, 2023 at about 2:00 pm at Ogbolu Palace, Ondo State.

The prosecutor counsel, O.F. Akeredolu told the court that the accused assaulted one Amotekun officer, Dayo Olaaduaomo, by hitting him on his head.

The defendant also conducted himself in a manner to cause apprehension.

The offence contravenes Sections 351, 69 and 70 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

When the charge was read, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against him.

Akeredolu, therefore, sought an adjournment to enable him study the case file and prepare his witnesses for trial.

The defence counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, did not oppose the prosecutor’s application. But he prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in most liberal terms.

Magistrate T.I. Ayodele admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
