Manager docked for stealing employer’s property

A 33-year-old manager, Francis John, who allegedly stole his employer’s property, was on Thursday brought before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Oke-Eda Akure.
John, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on two counts charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, told the court that John and others at large committed the offences on November 11, 2023 at about 9:30 at Dan-Adetoro Nigeria Enterprises in Akure.
Oniyere said the defendant stole some items, which include Electric Motor 3 horse power valued at N200,000, car washing machine valued at N170,000 and one tricycle battery valued at N20,0000, all valued at N390,000, entrusted in his care by his employer, one Daniel Adetoro.
The offences contravene Sections 388 and 390 (6) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Defence Counsel, C.O. Falana, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms.
Chief Magistrate T.O. Olusola-Olujobi, admitted the defendant to N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till April 22, 2024 for hearing.
