The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has described the manual collation of election results in the country as an archaic system.
It noted that politicians preferred the manual collation of election results because the archaic method enable them in circumventing election.
The State Director, Media and Publicity of the party, Mr. Steve Otaloro stated this in an interview with The Hope.
Nigeria as a nation, he explained should have gone beyond the level of manual collation of election results and adopt modern method of collating results.
He accused them of being involved in circumventing election, adding that this was possible through their position as politicians to influence electoral law.
Otaloro said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as an electoral body should perfect its electoral bill on electronic transmission of results to National Assembly for enactment.
“The National Assembly should assist INEC through legislative means to transmit election results electronically.
“INEC should be able to come up and tell Nigerians on what will make its job go well.
“They should state it and bring it before National Assembly for it to be enacted into law” he explained
He maintained that electronic transmission of election results should have been ready for future elections.
