Several residents of Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo state, had a close shave with death on Monday morning when a vehicle rammed into a boutique, causing significant damage.

The Hope gathered that the unmarked vehicle, while attempting to navigate a bend, lost control and collided with a boutique, a Corolla car with registration number YAB 862 EF, and a motorcycle parked along the ever-busy Ore–Okitipupa Road.

The incident led to  gridlock for many hours  leaving motorists stranded on the major route. Security personnel were promptly deployed to manage the traffic situation and restore order.

The crash caused panic in the community, with scores of residents rushing out to witness the wreckage. Fortunately, no life was lost.

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the accident occurred around 10 a.m.

A roadside hawker, identified as Mummy Pamilerin, who spoke with our correspondent, lamented the extent of the damage the driver caused.

“The driver, who was speeding, was highly intoxicated while driving. He took to his heels after realising the damage he had caused,” she said.

“A food vendor who was on the motorcycle was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital for immediate treatment,” she added.
