Many trapped as building collapses in Lagos

Several persons have been feared trapped following the collapse of a building on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State, on Saturday morning.

The incident, which occurred around 8 a.m., involved a structure housing the popular EqualRight restaurant.

Although the exact number of those trapped could not be immediately ascertained, eyewitnesses said a number of people were inside the building when it suddenly gave way.

As of the time of filing this report, emergency responders, including security personnel, had arrived at the scene to commence rescue operations.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, was yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Details of the cause of the collapse and possible casualties were still sketchy at press time.
