A high powered mass to be attended by eminent Bishops will be held today for the repose of 40 victims of terrorists attack at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa, Owo , will be committed to mother earth.
The mass which begins at 10am will hold at Mydals Resort and Hotels, Owo after which the victims will be given mass burial at a site along Emure-Owo Road.
The Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Dr. Jude Arogundade expressed appreciation to all Nigerians, Priests and Laity for their condolences, calls and love shown to the Diocese since the gruesome killings took place, observing that their solidarity and concern confirmed that the Catholic faith is beautiful, comforting and resilient.
Arogundade implored the people to continue to pray for the repose of the souls ‘of our loved ones and for quick recovery for those injured. I ask you to offer special prayers for the families of the victims, all parishioners of St. Francis and the people of Owo.
“Dear brothers and sisters, our country needs special prayers. As you pray, be vigilant and take all security measures to keep your families and parishes safe. May God protect us always”.
Reports from our correspondent revealed heavy presure of security personel as parishioners are expected at the funeral service.
Meanwhile, the Owo community returned to their roots yesterday as traditionalists invoked Ogun deity and curses on perpetrators of the Sunday June 5 terrorist attack on innocent worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church during which 40 died and several people injured.
