Three days to the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections, the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State is heading to oblivion.

This is because of the arrays of the notable leaders of the party in the state that had resigned and joined the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).

Among the leaders of the party that have teamed up with the APC since the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President-elect include: former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Adeyinka Banso, former chairman, Ondo East Local Government, Charles Adeduro.Femi Akinwehinmi, Onibalusi Boro, and Dele Fagoriola.

Others are: PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Banji Okunomo, former chairman, Okitipupa local government and senior Legislative aid to Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, Mr. Solomon Bitire, a member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council(PCC) Mr. Jossy Eganosi Ehinmore,

The leaders were accompanied by their supporters to the State party’s Secretariat in Akure.

They attributed their defections to what they called lost of focus by the leadership of their former party

Speaking on behalf of other defectors, a former member of the state 7th House of Assembly, Adeyinka Banso, said they dropped PDP because the leadership of the party has lost focus and vision.

He noted that the moment PDP picked a presidential candidate from the northern extraction, he decided to drop the party because it was a breach of agreement.

“If I stay in PDP, I won’t get the opportunity to represent my people to do what will be beneficial to them, joining APC, I can heave a sigh of relief.

“The moment my party picked a candidate from the northern extraction, because it’s a breach of agreement to me, this is not fair. I started thinking of moving to APC.

Receiving the PDP chieftains, the State Chairman of the APC, Adetimehin stated that the chieftains were strong members of PDP giving his party a run for its money at every election.

He assured the defectors of equal treatment in the party, saying they were all entitled to goodies available in the party.

According to him, “I am the most happy man today. These are shakers and movers of Ondo politics.

“Politics is about grassroots, these gladiators are grassroots politicians popular among their people.
