Massive turn out in Osun

Massive turned out of  voters was  recorded last Saturday in Osun state for the general elections to exercise their civic responsibilities.

The Hope gathered that adhoc staff and INEC officials were seen at at 6am moving to their polling units in Osogbo.

It was also gathered that all materials and machineries were on ground and working effectively before the commencement of the election.

At ward 3, unit 10, Ataoja ‘C’ in Osogbo voters were already on the queue as early as 7 a.m. waiting to be accredited and vote simultaneously.

At ward 3, unit 11, Ataoja, ‘C’, voters in their large numbers were also seen waiting patiently to be accredited and vote.

Some of the voters that spoke with The Hope expressed their readiness to cast their votes and return home.

At Unit 3, Ward 1, St. Peter’s primary school lbokun in Obokun Local Government Area of the state, there was also impressive turnout of voters.The presiding officer at the unit,  Mr Njemanze William said the turnout of the voters was encouraging and all materials are available.

William said that he and other ad hoc staff were at the polling unit as early as 7 a.m.

Some of the voters at the polling units commended INEC for the timely arrival at the polling units.

A 65-year- old woman, Mrs Sefinat Sajuyigbe, said she has passion in voting and also commended INEC for the timely arrival of election materials and personnel.

Sajuyigbe, who claimed to be at the polling units as early as 6 a.m, said she believed in the progress of the country.

A voter who identified himself as Mr Ayuba in Osogbo said there won’t be any form of violence because nobody is ready to die for anybody again.

Unarmed security operatives were also seen at all polling units visited to ensure that there was no problem.

While armed security agents were seen at strategic points ensuring peace and order.

Speaking with the Hope, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress representing Oriade/Obokun Federal constituency, Mr Wole Oke, commended the peaceful conduct of the general elections.

He said Esa Oke is known to be a peaceful community, thuggery and violence are aliens in the region.

He said the presence of security men has put every electorate on their toes that if you cross the bar, the law will deal with you.

“So far so good, the conduct of the election is peaceful and I pray it ends this way”, he said.

The presiding officer at Ward 1, unit 3, Obokun, Njemaeze William said the process is peaceful as electorate are complying with the laid down rules and voting started simultaneously after accreditation.

Also, the presiding officer at Ward 1 unit 9, Olu Evans said as at press time, everything is going on well and no issue has been recorded.

Meanwhile, some herdsmen were seen along Ikirun road grazing while election is going on.

Also, food vendors were seen at reasonable distance at some polling units across the state.
