Ondo State House of Assembly has promised  proper scrutiny as it continued its public sitting on 2015 to 2018 reports of the state Auditor-General on the account of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The three-week programme started last December by the House Committee on Public Account which lasted for three days but was suspended due to 2020 budget.

It would be recalled that some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), who were queried or had issues appeared before the committee for questioning and clarification during the programme last year.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Edamisan Ademola noted that the essence of the programme is to confirm the audit process and the appropriated funds of MDAs in those fiscal years.

While saying that it became imperative to set the record straight by evaluating the reports, he posited that the committee would do justice to the reports before it would be  submitted  to the whole house.

“It is in continuation of last year’s sitting which was suspended due to the 2020 budget and thereafter ,the house proceeded on recess. So far so good, we are getting good responses from the  MDAs through their accounting officers “,he stated.

Ademola added that at the end of the exercise, they will be able to perfect the system and make positive changes that will make the society better.

The committee charged the MDAs to ensure accountability and work in line with financial management principles to move the state forward.
