Meat seller jailed for raping 3 -year-old in Akure

Justice Samuel Bola of an Akure High Court has sentenced a meat seller, Tunde Alao, to life imprisonment for defiling a three-year-old girl.

While delivering the judgement, the trial judge, maintained that the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses led by one O.F Olatunji Esq established the case of rape and indecent assault against the convict.

Alao, an apprentice to the meat seller was dragged before the court in 2018 on two counts of rape and indecent assault.

He was accused of committing the offence at a shopping complex in Olufoam area, Akure at about 3.30 p.m in September 11, 2018.

The victim’s mother, Grace Fagoriola told the court that on the fateful day, when her daughter wanted to ease herself, she went outside the shop.

According to her, the girl came back inside the shop about 20 minutes later and was bleeding from her private part while she cried in pain.

”The little girl had pointed at the accused person as the person who raped her while he placed her on the table he used to sell meat.

“We held him and when we took him to the place to inspect the table, we saw blood there.

”I called my husband and told him of the crime committed against their daughter and he went to report at the police station,” she explained.

She said though the accused person ran away by the time the police came, he was later arrested.

Another witness, Kehinde Adebayo, who was Tunde Alao’s master as at the time the crime was committed also testified that he saw some drops of blood on the meat table which the apprentice had allegedly placed the victim on before raping her.

A doctor working with the Nigerian Police clinic, one Dr. P. Nwabuife, stated that he examined the victim and discovered a clotted blood in her private part.

The judge found the accused person guilty of all the counts and thereafter sentenced him to a lifetime behind bars.
