True to his words, former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko yesterday shunned the PDP state presidential campaign committee’s inauguration.
Also, Board of Trustees members of the party, Chief Segun Adegoke and Omolade Oluwateru were conspicuously absent at the inauguration.
Mimiko was earlier announced as the leader of the over 500 members’ presidential campaign committee
The former governor immediately debunked rumours of his alleged switch of allegiance from the caucus of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, which was requesting for a southern national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the camp of the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Mimiko, in a statement in Akure, Ondo State, by his media aide, Mr. John Paul Akinduro, also said he was neither consulted by anyone nor consented to his inclusion in the Ondo State PDP Presidential Campaign Council list, saying he was unwavering in his commitment to the principle of equity, fairness and justice through which he believed a credible push for a PDP victory was possible.
Retired Cornel Roland Omowa was made Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council while former Governorship candidate and the former Vice National Chairman of the part in SouthWest, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede and Eddy Olafeso were made Vice Chairman and the Director-General campaign council respectively.
The inaugurated campaign council has 530 members.
