Mimiko pays condolence visit to Aiyedatiwa

Today marked a significant moment at the Ondo State House as the former governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, led a large entourage of past government officials to pay condolences to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa following the loss of his predecessor.

In an emotional address, Dr. Mimiko expressed gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to Governor Aiyedatiwa and the people of Ondo State for the loss of their former leader. “I came with this large entourage because this visit is a significant one,” Mimiko said, acknowledging the deep sorrow felt by many for the departed former governor.

Reflecting on the late governor, Mimiko affectionately referred to him as “Aketi,” highlighting their close friendship and unwavering determination. “He was many things to many people, but for me, he is a friend,” Mimiko reminisced. “Once he made up his mind about anything, nothing could change it. That was the Aketi we knew.”

Expressing prayers for strength during this trying period, Mimiko extended his wishes for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s guidance in steering the affairs of the state. He also appreciated the unity and support demonstrated by the people of Ondo State for their new governor.

Responding to the visit, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and his entourage, acknowledging their leadership and support during these challenging times. “Thank you on behalf of the Ondo State Government for coming to pay us a condolence visit,” Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed, recognizing the significance of Mimiko’s presence as the only surviving past governor at this time.

Highlighting the enduring friendship between them, Aiyedatiwa recalled the late governor’s admiration for Mimiko, both as a friend and a statesman. “He has always said you are his friend, even in politics,” Aiyedatiwa acknowledged, emphasizing the importance of their enduring bond beyond political differences.

As the state mourns the loss of their former leader, the visit served as a poignant reminder of the unity and support among past and present leaders in navigating the challenges faced by Ondo State.
