Minimum wage: NLC insists on December ultimatum

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said that its December 1 ultimatum to state governors who fail to implement the new minimum wage by the end of November 2024 still stands.

The NLC’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Benson Upah, confirmed this.

Recall that the NLC had given state governments an ultimatum of December 1, 2024, to implement the new minimum wage.

Meanwhile, several state governments that have yet to reach an agreement with the organized labour movements in their states as of the time the ultimatum was given are currently working to meet the deadline.

States such as Sokoto, Zamfara, Taraba, Plateau, and Cross River have initiated processes to comply with the ultimatum.

In Ondo State, the governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announced that the state government would begin implementing a minimum wage of N73,000 for civil servants in November.
