Mob nab suspected burglar, thief in Ondo

A suspected thief was on Saturday apprehended by an angry mob in Ajilo area of Ondo city in the Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo State.
The Hope Metro gathered that the suspect was caught by security men guarding a compound when he attempted to gain entrance into the building in the early hours of Saturday.
The suspect reportedly took to his heels but was caught by the angry mob and macheted him.
A witness, who identified himself as Ibukun, said the mob beat the suspect blue and black, with sticks and cutlasses till he could not walk again and also tore his clothes.
He stated that the mob cut him with the cutlass all over his body and ran away, adding that the incident happened around 6:30am.
The witness stated that the suspect alongside his accomplice had burgled the building thrice and escaped because it was a lonely place as the owner is not in Nigeria.
According to the suspect, who mentioned his name to be Ismail Makinde, “I came to work in Ondo from Osun State. I stay in Ode-Omu, Osun State. I came to look for my boss in Ondo, but I didn’t know where he was staying. So, my mind told me to enter the building and the security men attacked me while my friends ran away.
“I am a timber operator. I work at Obete. I don’t know how I got here when we came back from Osun State yesterday. We slept in a bush till the following day before the incident happened.
On their part, the police said nobody came to report any case of stealing or robbery to them as at the time of filing this report.
