MOB wins  senatorial seat

There was wild jubilation on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital following the announcement that the former House of Representatives member and All Progressives Congress(APC) senatorial candidate in Ekiti Central for the Saturday National assembly election, Opeyemi Bamidele, has won the senatorial seat in the state.

The jubilants who are members of the APC held brooms in company of a popular local musician in the area  singing various solidarity songs thanking the people of the state.

Bamidele, who was in the lower chamber of the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015, scored a total of 94,279 to trounce the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Barr Obafemi Adewale.

Adewale polled a total of 48,707 votes.

During his time at the House of Representatives, he was the Chairman, House Committee on Budget and Research.

Immediately the news filtered into town, Bamidele in company of party supporters stormed Iyin Ekiti to celebrate with the electorate.
