Monarch, 3 indigenes remanded over attempted murder

The traditional ruler of Oke-Afo, Ebenezer Adejuyan, a notable politician in the town, Dennis Alongeniyi and two other indigenes of the town, Tobi Akinjagunla and Olagunwa Sunday have been ordered to be remanded in Olokuta Correctional Centre, Akure.
This came on the heels of an allegation of attempted murder among other charges brought against them by the prosecution.
The trial judge, Justice Samuel Bola, ordered their remand at the Correctional Centre pending the ruling on the bail application brought by the defence counsel, Olubunmi Akinseye.
The four defendants were arraigned freshly before the court on six counts substituted charge, ranging from conspiracy, attempted murder, stealing, assault occasioning harm and malicious damage.
The defendants were alleged of assaulting one Micheal Alonge, his wife and son, while armed with planks and other offensive weapons on February 8, 2019.
The charge also stated that the assailants that assaulted the family carried out the plan with an intention to kill or maim their victims.
During the melee, the defendants were also alleged to have caused damages to the complainant’s house and carted away the sum of N355,000
The defendants, however, entered a “not guilty” plea when the charge was read to them.
The prosecutor said ten prosecution witnesses would be called to testify in the case.
The defence counsel, thereafter, moved an application, praying the court to admit the defendants to bait.
The case was adjourned till January 9, for hearing of the prosecution’s reaction to the bail application and for ruling,
