Monarch endorses Irekari LCDA boss

The paramount ruler of Idoani Kingdom, Oba (Major General) Olufemi Olutoye, has expressed his belief in the Caretaker Chairman of lrekari Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Steve Otaloro and his interim management team to lead the council well.

The royal father who further expressed his admiration for the newly appointed caretaker chairman and his interim management said they are well-suited to lead the LCDA due to their impressive track records.

Particularly, he noted that the late father of the new council boss made significant contributions to the growth and development of the Irekari area during his service under former Governor of the old Ondo State, late Pa Adekunle Ajasin.

The traditional ruler stated this during a courtesy visit of the council boss and his management team to his palace in Idoani in Ose Local Government area of Ondo State.

Oba Olutoye who expressed his dissatisfaction with the criticism against their appointment stated that the new council leadership did not appoint themselves but were entrusted with this responsibility by the governor.

He stressed that they should not be denied the opportunity to serve the people and called for support instead.

Earlier, the Council boss, Otaloro presented his five-point agenda for the LCDA before the monarch ,which included plans to reopen the closed First Bank Branch in Idoani, improve accessibility of farm produce through the opening of feeder roads and lay township roads with asphalt to enhance the status of Idoani as the LCDA Headquarters.

The agenda also include promotion of the rich culture and potential of Idoani and other towns on a global platform, and to prioritize the welfare of vulnerable widows and the poorest in the LCDA.

Otaloro commended Governor Akeredolu for fulfilling his campaign promise to create a separate local government for the Irekari axis, which brings governance closer to the people.

He cautioned the people of the LCDA, especially traditional chiefs, against being manipulated by politicians for their own interests, which could disrupt the peace of the community.

The caretaker chairman assured that the Divisional Police Officer has been instructed to take appropriate action against any acts of sabotage.

In his appeal for peace, Otaloro emphasized that it was the prerogative of Governor Akeredolu to appoint suitable individuals to oversee the affairs of the council until the local government election is conducted.

He assured the community that the upcoming election would provide an opportunity for the people to elect their preferred candidates from all political parties.

Otaloro expressed gratitude to Oba Olutoye for his reception and promised to seek his counsel and guidance as he leads the affairs of Irekari LCDA.
