The Molokun of Atijere in Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State, Oba Samuel O. Adeoye (JP), and members of the community have appealed to the state government to come to their aid over the deplorable state of the community roads.
Oba Adeoye also appealed to the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC and Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC to help the community in constructing motorable roads for them to ease their movements.
“We are trying our best, especially the youth, just to put the road in shape but we can not do it all alone, this is why we appeal to the authorities for help,” the Monarch said.
Mr. Lanre Ikuejurojo, one of the community members, who spoke with The Hope, on behalf of the residents and youths, during the reconstruction and repairing of one of the bridges in the area, said the road network in Atijere has deteriorated to a point where it has become more of an obstacle than a means.
He said: “Residents have to contend with a myriad of challenges due to dilapidated roads. The residents have demonstrated remarkable resilience. They have organized “communal efforts ” to address the issue.
“These efforts are often short-lived and insufficient to tackle the problem.
“While community-driven initiatives are commendable, the solution to Atijere’s road ultimately lies in government’s intervention.
