Motorcyclist crushed to death in Ondo

A yet-to-be identified motorcyclist was on Tuesday, crushed to death by the driver of a Toyota Camry in Ondo, Ondo State.
The crash occurred at the popular Oboto junction around 5.20pm, when the vehicle coming from Ondo overtook another car and ran over the motorcyclist.
The deceased was said to be coming from farm at Omiluri, three kilometres away from where the incident happened.
The Hope Metro learnt from an eyewitness that the driver of the Toyota car who was on top speed, wanted to overtake the car in his front, when he rammed into the oncoming motorcyclist.
It was gathered that the motorcyclist who hailed from Calabar, Cross -River State died on the spot because the car crushed him and the motorcycle on the road.
The car involved was also damaged, but the driver escaped unhurt.
The Hope further gathered that the rear tyre and frame are the only things they could see as the car carried the body and other part of the motorcycle was carried to the bush by the car, as the driver ran away after the incident to bolorunduro police station to report the case.
According to the eyewitness, a team of Road SSafety officials came to the scene to evacuate the lifeless body to the state hospital morgue in Ondo City.
The crash caused gridlock on the busy Ondo/Akure Road, as many commuters were held in traffic for several hours.
Efforts to speak with the driver proved abortive as the police did not allow anybody see him because of the situation at hand.
