A commercial motorcyclist, Lukman Adegboye, who was allegedly found in a car without the owners’ knowledge,  has  been dragged before an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The police arraigned Adegboye before Magistrate Mayomi Olanipekun, for committing the offence on March 3,  2019.

The prosecutor, Inspt. Adeoye Adesegun, told the court that the accused was found in the car belonging to one Mr. Popoola Adeniyi at about 9 a.m.  in Akure.

But the defendant  pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him.

Adesegun, while summarizing the facts of the case, said the accused was arrested inside the car of the complainant.

He said on the fateful day, Adesegun with an intent  to steal  the vehicle where the owner parked it, brought a motorcycle to the place.

“He was arrested with  the motorcycle and taken to the station, where he confessed that the motorcycle belongs to another man, who gave him to work, while he pays daily.

“Consequently, the owner of the motorcycle was summoned to the station  where he identified  that it was his  property,” he explained.

Lawyer for the accused, Mr. E.D Edna, prayed the court to strike out the case, since the complainant was no longer  interested in it.

Edna said the complainant had  also written a letter to the station to withdraw the  case.

The defense counsel, therefore, applied for the bail of his client, while he urged the court to order the prosecution to release the motorcycle to the rightful owner.
