Motorcyclist remanded for assault

A 42-year-old motorcyclist, Dare Bademosi, has been remanded by the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo town, for injuring a lady, Adedoyin Oyebade.

The defendant was brought to court for threatening to terminate the life of the complainant.

Police prosecutor, Mr Akao Moremi said the defendant committed the offence on March 7, 2023, at about 7:30 pm at Ose- Loro Street, in Ondo.

The charge read in part, ”That you, Dare Bademosi, on March 7, 2023, at about 07:30 am at Ose-Loro street, Ondo in the Ondo Magisterial District, assaulted one Adedoyin Oyebade, by hitting her head with broken bottles and inflicted an open injury all over her body, thereby causing her permanent injury, contrary to and punishable under Sections 351, 355  and 335 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Law of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defence counsel, Mr Israel Ikuemonisn, applied for the bail of his client  in most liberal terms.

Magistrate Mosunmola ikujuni, refused the defendant’s bail and ordered his remand in police custody till next adjournment.

Ikujuni adjourned the case till April 25, 2023, for trial.
