Motorists and residents of Oke Aro have commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for approving the long-anticipated dualisation of the Akure-Idanre Road.
They noted that the project, once completed, would not only ease traffic flow but also boost local commerce and significantly reduce road accidents in the area.
Speaking with The Hope, Mr. Tope Adebisi, Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Akure-Idanre Unit, described the project as “a timely intervention.”
“For years, we have suffered delays and accidents due to the narrow and dilapidated state of this road. Governor Aiyedatiwa’s decision to dualise it will save lives and improve transportation and economic activities,” he said.

Similarly, Mr. Paul Yeye, Secretary of the NURTW, Oke Aro Branch, expressed gratitude on behalf of the union.
“We at the NURTW in Oke Aro are very happy about this development. It’s a major relief,” he noted.
A tricycle operator, who preferred to remain anonymous, also praised the initiative, describing it as a welcome development for the area.
“When the road is expanded, more people will pass through here. That means better routes and faster deliveries. This is a blessing for all of us in Oke Aro and the surrounding communities,” he said.
A resident, Mr. Toba Adeniran, emphasised the potential of the project to drive further development in the region.
“This project will attract more investors to the area. We are grateful to Governor Aiyedatiwa for heeding the cries of the people,” he said.
However, Adeniran also appealed to the governor and the contractor to ensure the project is not abandoned midway.
The residents and motorists jointly called for the prompt commencement and timely completion of the project to fully realise its benefits for the Akure-Idanre corridor.
