Mrs. Akeredolu bags merit award

Wife of the Ondo state governor, Arabinrin Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu was at the weekend conferred with an Award of Excellence by the Imo Newspaper Publishers Association, INPA, in recognition of her various life-changing and advocacy programmes.

 Presenting her the award during the INPA 2019 Merit award ceremony, held at Rockview hotel Owerri, the Imo State capital, the Chairman of the association, Mr. Henry Ekpe noted that Arabinrin Akeredolu was selected for the honour in recognition of her leadership virtues which had been noticed since her days as a student of Egbu Girls Secondary School, Owerri.

 He reiterated the commitment of the association to at all times recognise quality performances in the society, noting that Arabinrin Akeredolu has excelled as an epitome of womanhood with how she sustain her marriage and her relationship with her place of birth.

Reacting to the award, the First Lady reiterated her determination to always impact lives, regardless of praise-singers and recognition from any corner.

 She condemned the negative response to good initiatives demonstrated by some Nigerians, describing such act as a bane of development and the quest to achieve a sustainable nation.

 The First Lady reiterated her doggedness to see the emancipation of African women, noting that the black race had denied women folk the opportunity to contribute significantly to development like their counterparts in the developed nations.

Mrs. Akeredolu disclosed that as part of her advocacy for women’s health and well-being, especially the alarming mortality  rate from breast and cervical cancer, Ondo State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dana-Farber Cancer centre of Harvard University to establish a context-appropriate comprehensive cancer treatment center in the state.
