It was a life well spent for late madam Clara Welola Atandeyi who passed on at the ripe age of 75 years a few weeks back, as her remains were laid to rest at the weekend In Akure, amidst eulogies
The burial rites started on Thursday with a wake-keep service held at St David’s Cathedral Ijomu Akure, where believers were urged to examine themselves now that they are still alive, as there is still time to rewrite their story since they all have a record book.
In a sermon during the funeral service held at St. Thomas’s Church, Isinkan Akure on Friday, September 15, 2023, the Vicar-in-charge, Ven. Thompson Olu Akinboro urged believers to always allow people around them to see Christlike behaviours in them as was seen in Mama Atandeyi’s life.
Akinboro said Mama lived a righteous life. He described her as a caring and committed servant of God who served God truthfully until his last day on earth.
He said Mama would also be remembered for her distinctive integrity, honesty, and uniqueness in the service to mankind especially when she was at the public service.
The clergy said,“ Mama Atandeyi lived a life worthy of emulation. For more than 25 years, Mama served as the National Treasurer of Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School Old Girls Association (FOGA) and there had been no need to audit Mama’s account.
“Mama’s unmatchable integrity played out when she returned the sum of N607,755.49 as over-payment out of the total sum she was erroneously paid.
“The act was commended by the former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, and she was given a State Award for Honesty and Integrity
“ She is indeed an epitome of honesty and integrity,”
While praying to God to grant the soul of the deceased matriarch eternal rest, he told the children and family members to be consoled by the fact that their mother lived for Christ and urged them to emulate her good virtues.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Engr. Babajide Atandeyi described Mama as a God-fearing, lively, hardworking, and enterprising mother who lived a sacrificial life.
He added that Mama lived a life of appreciation, both to God and men.
The late Mrs Clara Atandeyi was born on April 22, 1948. She started her career as a Staff Nurse in the Old Western State and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Nurse Officer in 1992.
Mama retired in 2005 as the Deputy Primary Health Coordinator for Akure South Local Government Area, having put in the mandatory service of 35 years.
The burial ceremony was attended by friends, family, and relatives from within and outside the country.
