Muslims community declares support for Akeredolu’s 2nd term

The Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede has expressed a strong preference of the muslim community in the state for a leader like Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to rule the state for another four years.

He explained that the preference of muslim faithful in the state for his administration was due to his style of leadership .

The cleric stated this during the thanksgiving and Jummat services lined up to mark the three years anniversary of the governor in office.

The event had in attendance Governor Akeredolu who led other government functionaries including  the State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. lfedayo Abegunde, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro; his counterparts from Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Saka Ogunleye and Lands and Housing, Alhaji Fatai Olotu.

Others are: Commissioner for Agriculture, Otunba Adegboyega Adefarati; Chairman Muslim Welfare Board, Alhaji Khaleel Fawehinmi and Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Princess Oladunni Odu among others.

The occasion witnessed prayers for the governor and his administration for a successful tenure and his re-election for second term by Alhaji Yayi-Akorede, the Chairman of League of Imam and Alfas, Alhaji Ahmed Aladesawe, his Deputy and Chief Imam, Ondo, Alhaji Bashir Alimi and Imam lkare, Alhaji Abbas Abubakar, among other notable Islamic cleric in the state.

Yayi-Akorede appreciated the governor for operating an administration that is characterised with open-door policy, noting that ” What you are doing is what all  progressives must proud of “.

He said “We appreciate the governor for answering call whenever phone call is put to him.

“We want a leader like Akeredolu who is free with us and you  even surprised us for attending the thanksgiving in person. You deserve prayer “

While appreciating late former governors Adebayo Adefarati and Dr. Olusegun Agagu for their landmark achievements which Muslims in the state are beneficiaries, of the cleric charged Akeredolu to continue with his good work.

“God used your administration to resuscitate Muslim Primary Schools in the state, after many students have left the schools”, he noted

Addressing the congregation, Governor Akeredolu commended muslim faithful, particularly their leaders for their prayers and support towards his government in the state.

According to him, ” Most of the achievements recorded by my government in the last three years was as a result of the commitment of muslim appointees in the government.”

He lauded them for their unique contributions since the inception of his government.

” Muslims and Christians, we are one, we don’t encourage tribal differences “, he said .
