A 21-year-old Frank Nisala, who was paraded by the Ondo State Police Command headquarters at Igbatoro road has confessed he was deceived by his friends to become a sea pirate.
Nisala, a native of Ijaw in Ese Odo Local government area of Ondo narrated his ordeal with The Hope Metro on how his friends tricked him to steal a boat and kidnapped a man.
Narrating how he was arrested, ”My friends said they were going to the nearest town by boat. So, I took the opportunity to follow them to check on my sister.
“To my greatest surprise, on getting to Orogbo community, my friends asked the driver to lock himself up at the lower part of the boat as they took over the boat.
“One of them simply called Ike, was very wild with the boat driver as he picked up a stick to strike the driver. So, the driver quickly locked himself in the small section in the boat, called ‘the draft.’
Nisala explained that after seeing the action of his friend, Ike, he knew he was in for trouble, saying, he started asking them where they were heading to with the boat, but that they did not respond.
“On our way, Ike saw the Nigerian Naval patrol team. So, he quickly stopped the boat by the bank of the river and ran out.
” I saw my friends running out and I followed as well. On my way into one of the communities, I saw some people who did not allow me to pass as they alleged me of being an illegal fisherman.
“The men took me and handed me over to the Naval patrol team I was running away from.
” While I was being taken to the naval patrol team, my friend, Ike, who lives in Agadagba in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo State. Suddenly jumped into the river and ran away with Akin.
“They came to meet me at Igbokoda. I have never joined them before. I am only a fisherman, managing myself.
