Mrs Oluwakemi Funke Benson has raised alarm over a death threat to the lives of her family, particularly her children.

The threat according to her was on the account of her refusal to accept the doctrine of the family.

The doctrine according to Mrs Benson was that a cleansing would be carried out for all female children.

The purpose of the cleansing is not far away from ritual for those who are ‘wiser’ than others in the family.

The mother of three girls namely: Iyanuloluwa Olamide Benson, Temiloluwa Ayobami Benson and Oluwatimilehim Rebecca Benson explained that trouble started when the family came together to carry out the dastard act and she vehemently opposed.

According to her, the cleansing is traditionally meant for embarking on incision on the body of all the female child of the family.

Due of their deep faith in Christianity, she declined and since that time, life has become unbearable for them and has since been facing serious persecution and threat to her live and her children.

At different times, she said her family faced persecution and death threats.

Oluwakemi, who is a mother of three children said further, “this evil agent made several death threats on my life and the children to persuade us to take part in the cleansing.

According to her, “early on August, 20, 2016 at Oke-Aro in Akure while taking her children to school, that she was waylaid by suspected thugs who wanted to hijack or kidnap her and her children for the forceful ‘ritual’.

She said it was quick response of the people that saved her and the children, but her car, a Honda with registration No: AGL 867 CH was taken away after she was beaten to a state of coma.

According to Mrs Benson, the case was reported at the ‘B’ Division of the Ondo State Police command and was admitted at the State Specialist Hospital.
