My men on red alert against crime incursion– Osun CP

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has assured residents of its readiness to maintain law and order, dismissing rumours of hoodlums infiltrating the state and the South-West region from the North.

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Muhammed Umar Abba, stated that his men are stationed at strategic locations across the state, monitoring entry and exit points to prevent any form of inter-state crime incursion.

“There is no room for inter-state crime incursion. My men have been placed at strategic locations, and they are keeping their eagle eyes on the movement of people at both entry and exit points. Osun is safe for all, and there is no cause for alarm,” he said during a chat with our correspondent in Osogbo on Thursday.

Abba emphasised that the command has implemented necessary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property.

He urged residents to continue with their lawful activities without fear of harassment or hindrance.

The police boss revealed that detectives, including tactical squads, have been deployed to critical locations across the state. He noted that the command is working in synergy with other security agencies to combat crime and criminality.

“By the grace of Almighty God, we are taking all possible measures to ensure that all criminal elements are apprehended and prevented from perpetrating any evil in the state,” he said.

He added: “We have put adequate measures in place to guarantee the safety of lives and property of every citizen. We are advising the general public to go about their lawful duties unmolested and report any suspected strange movements to the police for immediate action.”

Abba called on citizens to support the police in their efforts to prevent and detect crimes, stressing the importance of collaboration with neighbouring states.

He reassured the public that the command would continue to ensure the state remains safe for all.

It will be recalled that the South-West security outfit, Amotekun, raised an alarm last week over the infiltration of bandits into the region.

Consequently, security operatives in Osun State were placed on red alert to prevent any possible breakdown of law and order.
