By Bamidele Kolawole

Muslim singer, Wasiu Kayode Sideeq has said that his music is to change atrocities committed by couples.

Speaking in an interview with the Friday Extravaganza, he disclosed that he settles homes by appealing to couples through his music.

Sideeq who hails from Owu Totoro in Abeokuta North Local Government, Ogun State, who has been singing for 20 years said that music runs in his vein, as it is a talent given to him from above.

According to him, the idea of music was nurtured when he was in the secondary school, in an association called the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria.

The artiste stated that his major aim in music is to make converts to the fold of Islam and to preach the Islamic tenets and fundamentals as laid down by  the Quran and hadiths of the holy prophets.

The graduate of Mass communication from Ogun State Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, said that his mood and area he found himself inspired him to compose songs.

According to him, he has been able to release more than 20 albums since   he has been singing.

In his words, piracy is the enemy of  the entertainment business in Nigeria as they are parasites eating where they  did not  sow.

Sideeq urged Federal Government to come to their aid, while the rapid development in Nigeria is really affecting their business saying that communications, online downloads are affecting the music marketers and producers.

“I have been to all south west states in Nigeria and some parts of the north. To God be the glory, I’m the first Islamic musician to play in  African countries.

“Having performed in Abidjan Ivory coast in 1993,Togo, Ghana and Burkinna Faso. I’m the first Islamic musician to play in  the United states of America in  between 2012 and 2013,

I played in about 7 states in America including New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Maryland, Houston Texas to mention but a  few.

“I have staged shows in about 3 European countries. Luxembourg Germany, Spain in 2015,and Netherlands.” he mentioned.

He stated that music is his only source of income ,while he is  dreaming to lay his hand on another thing.

He mentioned some of his mentors to include Alhaji Wahab Falowo and Alhaji Abdullah Akinbode  whom  he  met  on the  field when he started.

The artiste noted that he can allow his children to choose music as a career, but  their education is paramount before anything.

He urged upcoming artiste to put Almighty Allah first before anything saying they should have strong belief that only God can make them known to the populace by not  resting  on their oars.

He added that they should have a good knowledge of Arabic and western Education,  saying  by this, they will not approach Islamic music as a layman.

He made them to know that respect to the people they meet on ground is also important saying they should have an undaunted communication with their creator.
