My victory God’s made —Akeredolu

By Adekola Afolabi

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, yesterday said his electoral victory at the just conducted governorship election in the state was a victory which God has made.
The Governor noted that nobody can change what God has done, adding that those going to the Tribunal to challenge his victory are just wasting their time.
He said he believed in the living God he is serving, and that his God has never for once left him alone.
He spoke on Sunday in Owo, during the Thanksgiving Service to mark third year Enthronement Anniversary of the Bishop of Owo Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev Dr Stephen Fagbemi, held at the All Saints’ Church, Idasen, Owo.
Governor Akeredolu said people of Ondo State should be rest assured that the second term mandate freely given to him was by divine arrangement and no contestation can tamper with.
“This is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. One thing I’m certain is that this is the tree that God has planted and nobody can uproot it. Anybody who is not happy can go to “tribunal or Tribune”, nothing will happen again. They are just wasting their time. Election has been won and lost,” he stressed.
The governor who equally appreciated God for allowing the election hold on October 10, said if the election had not been held that day the #EndSARS protest would have disrupted it.
On the looting of warehouses where COVID-19 palliatives were kept, the Governor refuted the claims in some quarters that the palliatives donated to the state were not distributed.
He emphasised that the palliatives donated to the state by donors including CACOVID had been distributed to the people, noting that what remained at the palliative warehouse in Akure and looted by hoodlums during the #EndSARS protest were mainly sugar.
Akeredolu revealed that no governor in the South-West deliberately hoarded the palliative items.
He described those looting warehouses and other private malls in the name of #EndSARS protest as criminals.
Akeredolu added that though he did not go against peaceful protest, wanton destruction of both private and public properties is out of it.
Earlier in his sermon titled “The Redeemed”, Venerable Dr Olatunde Abiodun said the service being, All Saints’ Day called to remembrance the callings of Christians through divine purification for the advancement of the Work of God on earth.
Venerable Abiodun said the journey of Sainthood is a life-long experience beginning from earth and will end in paradise for the Saints.
He noted the service of dedication of the Bishop and charged him to continue to be focused so that the Church of God will continue to match on to victory.
In his testimony during the service, the Diocesan Bishop, Rt Revd. Dr Stephen Fagbemi thanked God for the tremendous progress so far made within the three years of his episcopacy.
While appreciating both Houses of the Clergy and Laity for their cooperation to the development of the Diocese, the Bishop said everyone must identify more with its advancement.
He used the occasion to congratulate Governor Akeredolu on his victory at the poll.
