N-Youth League: Sunshine Stars thrash Eagles Star 3-0 in reverse fixture

Sunshine Stars U-19 secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Eagles Star U-19 on Tuesday in the reverse fixture of the N-Youth League, reinforcing their position at the top of the log.

Olowo Ilerioluwa opened the scoring in the first half with a powerful shot from the edge of the 18-yard box, leaving the goalkeeper off balance.

The second half saw Sunshine Stars U-19 intensify their attacking play, with Amid Ismail doubling the lead through a long-range strike from outside the box. Gabriel Adepoju sealed the victory by converting a penalty, ensuring his team claimed all three points.

Reacting to the win, Sunshine Stars U-19 Head Coach, Olarenwaju Ale, commended his team’s performance.

“It was a good game for both sides. My boys did exceptionally well, even though we got the goals late in the second half. We will continue to improve our performances, both home and away, to maintain our lead in the Southern Conference and qualify for the Super 4 to win the league,” he said.

Eagles Star U-19 Team Manager, Adebambo Ibrahim, acknowledged the strength of their opponents but remained optimistic.

We played against a strong side and tried our best to secure a point. We will go back and work on our lapses ahead of our next game,” he stated.

With the win, Sunshine Stars U-19 maintain their lead in the Southern Conference of the N-Youth League. They will host Shuffle Select Football Academy in their next match.
