N-Youth League: Sunshine Stars U-19 defeat Eagles Star

Sunshine Stars U-19 edged Eagles Star of Lagos 1-0 to begin the league’s second stanza at the Adeyemi Federal University Sports Complex, Ondo.

Despite multiple scoring opportunities in the first half, including hitting the crossbar twice, the decisive moment came in the 58th minute when Ariyo Ikulamberu’s free kick found Matthew Samuel, who netted the winning goal for the home side.

Sunshine Stars’ Head Coach, Olanrewaju Ale, remarked, “We dominated but failed to convert our chances. As we progress, our rhythm will improve. We’ll work on scoring more goals, both at home and away.”

Eagles Star U-19 Team Manager, Adebambo Ibrahim, acknowledged the strength of their opponents, stating, “We expected them to beat us by more than a goal.”

Sunshine Stars U-19 remain atop the Southern N-Youth League and will face R2 Finesse Football Club of Lagos in their next match in Ikenne, Ogun State.
