N-Youth League: Sunshine Stars U-19, Shuffle Select U-19 share spoils

Sunshine Stars U-19 secured a 1-1 draw against Shuffle Select U-19 on Tuesday in Remo, Ogun State, during their Southern N-Youth Conference League clash.
The first 25 minutes of the match saw both teams struggling to penetrate each other’s defence without success. However, Sunshine Stars U-19 broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute when Gabriel Adepoju converted a penalty after Ilerioluwa Olowo was fouled inside the box.
Shuffle Select U-19 equalised in the 76th minute, taking advantage of a defensive error to score from close range. Despite the pressure, Sunshine Stars’ goalkeeper Akeem Basiru made crucial saves to help his team secure a point and maintain their lead in the Southern N-Youth Conference League.
Sunshine Stars U-19 Head Coach, Olarenwaju Ale, expressed satisfaction with the match. “It was a very good game. We defeated Shuffle Select 4-1 in the first leg, but we missed several goal-scoring chances this time. We recently introduced new players as some of our players were promoted to the senior team. The new players are adapting well, and with time, they’ll gain momentum and blend into the squad.”
Sunshine Stars U-19 will face Oyomesi U-19 in their next match—a Southwest derby at Remo Stadium in Ogun State.
