N-Youth League: Sunshine Stars U-19 solidify lead

…promote 3 players to senior team
Sunshine Stars U-19 have solidified their position at the top of the N-Youth Southern Conference League table with 30 points from 11 matches following a commanding 3-0 victory over R2 Fitnesse at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.
The team’s impressive form has also resulted in the promotion of three standout players — Samuel Matthew, Christopher Richard, and Ariyo Ikulamberu — to the senior team.
Commenting on the development, Abimbola Oladimeji, Director of the Sunshine Stars Youth Team, said: “These three players have earned their promotion to the senior team with their outstanding performances on the field. It is time for them to explore more opportunities to excel in their footballing careers.”
In the match, Sunshine Stars dominated the first half but were unable to break the deadlock. However, they came alive in the second half, with Ariyo Ikulamberu netting two quick goals before Samuel Matthew sealed the victory with the third.
Head Coach of Sunshine Stars U-19, Olanrewaju Ale, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“I am very impressed by the boys’ display today. Although the goals didn’t come in the first half, they showed resilience and determination, scoring three in the second half to secure the win. We are committed to maintaining this momentum and keeping our lead to qualify for the Super 4 of the N-Youth League,” he said.
Sunshine Stars U-19 remain firmly at the top of the league and are now preparing to face Eagles Stars in another reverse fixture at the Remo Stars Stadium.
