The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has presented cheques totaling ₦40,360,075.66 to the families and next of kin of 45 deceased police officers in Osun State, as part of the Nigeria Police Force Welfare Package and Group Life Assurance Scheme.
The cheques were formally presented at the Osun State Police Command Headquarters, Osogbo, by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Finance and Administration, Adebisi Lateef.
While addressing the beneficiaries, Gotan urged them to utilise the funds judiciously to support their families and sustain the legacies of their loved ones. He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed officers and expressed appreciation to the IGP for the altruistic gesture.
“The Nigeria Police will continue to stand by the families of our fallen heroes. We will not relent in ensuring the welfare of our personnel and their loved ones,” Gotan assured.
He further reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to supporting the families of officers who died in active service, recognising their sacrifices for peace and national security.
The presentation ceremony was attended by family members of the deceased officers, senior police officers, and other stakeholders at the Osun State Police Command Headquarters.
