NAF charges veterans on national security

The Commandant of the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Safety (NAFIS), Ipetu-Ijesa, Group Captain Abdulkadiri Bello, has called for effective collaboration with Nigerian Air Force (NAF) veterans on matters of national security.

Group Captain Abdulkadiri Bello made the appeal during a parley held at NAFIS, Ipetu-Ijesa, emphasising the significance of engaging veterans to strengthen the nation’s security framework.

The Hope  gathered that the nationwide event aimed to bring together NAF veterans to share their wealth of experience and knowledge in ensuring a safer Nigeria.

Speaking on the occasion, Group Captain Bello underscored the importance of leveraging the expertise of NAF veterans to foster peace and security in the country.

According to him, “It is an honour to stand before you today, not just as a fellow Nigerian, but as a fellow warrior and comrade in arms.

“We gather here today not only to celebrate the dawn of a new year but also to honour the legacy of those who have served with courage and dedication in the Nigerian Air Force.”

While welcoming the veterans, the Commandant expressed his delight, saying,

“I am indeed delighted to receive you today as special guests. You have made selfless sacrifices, shown unwavering dedication, and demonstrated outstanding commitment while serving our fatherland and the Nigerian Air Force.

“I congratulate you all as veterans and heroes of our beloved country. Furthermore, let me use this opportunity to inform you that the Chief of the Air Staff has graciously approved gifts to appreciate your contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian Air Force and the country at large.”

He further lauded the veterans for their service, stating, *“You have written the history of our Air Force.

You have soared in the skies, protected our nation, and defended our freedom.

“You have faced challenges, overcome adversity, and made sacrifices that few can comprehend. Your service has shaped our nation, inspired generations, and created a legacy of heroism that will be celebrated for years to come.”

The Commandant assured the veterans that the Institute of Safety would continue to provide the necessary support and assistance whenever required. He concluded by urging everyone to carry forward the torch of service and dedication, saying.

“As we enter this new year, let us continue to fight for our nation, our freedom, and the ideals that you have so valiantly defended.

“To the veterans of the Nigerian Air Force, I salute you all. May this New Year bring you peace, joy, and good health. Thank you for your service, and God bless.”

The parley included activities such as documentation, a tea break, medical tests, and an interactive session.

Representing the veterans, Air Commodore Omirin (Rtd) expressed gratitude to the Chief of the Air Staff.

He joined other seasoned veterans, senior officers, and airmen in extending New Year wishes to everyone present.
